Dyslexia Screener – 2 hrs – £175
A dyslexia screener is offered to enable a decision to be made as to whether to administer a full diagnostic assessment. This may prove helpful if you are unsure as to whether a full assessment is required. The screener is not a quick online assessment such as the type sometimes administered in schools and colleges, which can be unreliable and provide little information.
Full Diagnostic Dyslexia Assessment – 5 hrs – £475
A comprehensive dyslexia assessment comprises a number of different assessments which together provide an accurate picture of an individual’s strengths and difficulties, as well a diagnosis of dyslexia if present.
A full assessment can be administered in one sitting or can be split between sittings, with each sitting being, ideally, a minimum number of days apart. This arrangement is sometimes preferable with a younger child of primary school age.
Exam Access Arrangement Assessment – £50 per/hr
For pupils and students due to sit external examinations, Specialist Help in Education can administer assessments which will determine eligibility for extra time, readers, scribes and other types of EAA. It is important that eligibility is determined early so that learners can become accustomed to their arrangement(s).
For primary school pupils, the beginning of year 6 is an ideal time to assess in preparation for SATs. For secondary students, EAA assessments can be administered from the summer term of year 9 to establish normal way of working for GCSE exams.
Form 8 /9 Completion – from £35 per form
Specialist Help in Education can provide a Form 8/9 completion service. This can be an optional extra to exam access arrangements assessments. Form 8/9 completion must be finalised for students who require certain exam access arrangements and is usually submitted a number of months prior to exams.
SENDCo & SEND Consultancy – POA
Specialiist Help in Education provides help and advice to both parents and schools/colleges using extensive knowledge, understanding and experience gained working as teacher, SENDCo, assessor, assistant educational psychologist and local authority education officer, This could be a half hour ‘next steps’ conversation or a full SENDCo/SEND Consultancy service. Short consultations are free.
School, College & Workplace Training – POA
Specialist Help in Education can provide training on dyslexia for your school, college, university or workplace. Bespoke courses have been developed to cater to every level of understanding and knowledge, from complete beginners to courses designed to build on prior knowledge. Courses are tailored to include both information and practical, useable strategies designed for the age and academic level of your cohort from Early Years to adults.
Tuition £50 per/hr
Specialist Help in Education brings many years of teaching experience of children and young people of all ages and ability levels along with significant knowledge and practice in tutoring those with dyslexia or with dyslexic-type difficulties. Sessions can be delivered in the child or young person’s home or in their school, college or university. Specialist teaching of under-16s aims to ‘fill’ the gaps in phonics knowledge and awareness and literacy in order to assist the child in accessing the curriculum, Tutoring of young people and adults of 16+ is focused on building study skills and fostering independence whilst addressing gaps in literacy.
